The Abbey Theatre, St. Albans was built in 1967 - the result of a dream. A group of dedicated actors, actresses, assorted technicians, and other theatre lovers collectively known as the 'Company of Ten', were forced to leave their old 99-seat Abbey Mill Theatre, near the lake at Verulam in the mid sixties. Founded in 1934 by 10 young amateur thespians, it was the first purpose-built theatre in St Albans since Roman times. A limited number of wheelchair spaces are available by prior arrangement only. Please check with the Box Office in advance. There is a designated toilet for people with disabilities, including wheelchair users.
