The 'cool movement' was founded after big band swing and be-bop. Many of the founders of the cool movement had played in both schools. Cool jazz takes something from be-bop but with greater attention to melody, making cool jazz much more relaxed and less frantic than be-bop. However, great attention was paid to the arrangements and harmonies. 'Cool Jazz' is both entertaining and enjoyable - you don't have to possess a degree in music to understand this jazz. Much of this jazz came to the shores of the UK via the 12" vinyl L.P.'s of BLUE NOTE RECORDS- thus The Cool Play Blue Note. This jazz is easy listening with great tempo's - most of the tunes you will already know. In other parts of the country it is often referred to as "groove music" and can be enjoyed by all ages. So tonight get in the groove and come and listen to THE COOL supplemented tonight by the addition of GREG ABATE displaying his skill on tenor sax
