 Many songs ('musical works') are copyrighted and must be licensed for sites like Lemonrock. The PRS collects and distributes licence fees for the public performance and broadcast of certain musical works.
The MCPS collects and distributes 'mechanical' royalties generated from the recording of certain music onto many different formats. This income is distributed to their members - writers and publishers of music.
The MCPS-PRS Alliance manages common activities, services both societies and is jointly owned by them.
Through The Alliance, MCPS and PRS charge Lemonrock for a licence so that we can make music available online using their members' repertoire. Use of such licensed tracks on Lemonrock is subject to restrictions, a summary of which may be obtained by accessing the Licensors' websites through the links referred to above.
If you post any cover versions (or originals licensed by MCPS/PRS or other collecting bodies) on this site, you MUST select the appropriate Licensing category for each MP3 when you upload it to Lemonrock. A payment goes to the relevant collecting body for each such track.
Through our licensing agreement with MCPS-PRS, ALL cover versions on Lemonrock are FREE to download and listen to!
